(Letter to Mayor and Police Chief and City Councils plus Sheriff in OKC and Tulsa)
In June, IRON learned that the Mexican Consul had made arrangements to use the Rudisill Library in Tulsa as their temporary Consul. IRON contacted the Tulsa Library system making them aware that the proposed agreement to allow a foreign government permission to access taxpayer funded facilities was unconstitutional and citizens would not permit it. The Mexican Consul has permission from Arkansas for a Consul whereby their foreign nationals can contact them on issues, but the Consul has no jurisdiction in Oklahoma.
Tulsa Regional Library System regulations and Policy prohibits the facilities from being used for profit in any way. The Oklahoma Constitution prohibits the state from making agreements with foreign governments and since the Mexican Consul is an ‘arm’ of a foreign government, Oklahoma citizens are not required to furnish taxpayer funded facilities such as schools, colleges, libraries, public buildings etc. for use by a foreign government. Citizens expect conscientious management of local and state money and the rule of law must be enforced with no allowances or exceptions for the benefit of a foreign government.
When IRON contacted the Tulsa Library Director, we were clear in stating we were not trying to keep the Mexican Consul out of Oklahoma – we were just adamant in stating that taxpayers were not going to let the Consul utilize taxpayer facilities and the Consul should find another place, which they did.
I refer to the attached letter from an immigration attorney in Oklahoma City representing the Mexican Consul, Carole A Wangrud, that erroneously oversteps her authority by threatening taxpaying citizens with legal action.
It is offensive, despicable, appalling and outrageous for a foreign government to humiliate themselves by attempting to intimidate and threaten grandparents, Senior Citizens and legal taxpayer with lawsuits when citizens’ intention is that laws are enforced. No foreign government has authority to interfere in Oklahoma law enforcement and attempt to intrude on our legal and human rights as a taxpaying citizen.
The Government of Mexico has abused their welcome in Oklahoma.
Respectfully,
Carol Helm – Director IRON Group
